Categories of questions

All ADA University students, faculty, and staff can borrow materials from the ADA Library. Bring your valid university ID card to the Circulation Desk (Building L, 1st floor entrance), where you can check out, return, or renew items, pick up reserved materials, borrow basic stationery or get assistance with library services.

Loan limits and periods depend on user status:

• Undergraduate & Graduate students: up to 5 books for 21 days

• Faculty: up to 20 books for 120 days

• Staff: up to 5 books for 21 days

Loan periods for course reserves, audiovisuals, and other materials may differ. See the Information Resources’ Use Policy for full details.

Yes. Most materials can be renewed up to two times, unless another user has reserved them. You can renew or place hold requests online through your ADA Library account or at the Circulation Desk. Log into your account anytime to view your current loans and due dates

Yes. Some special collections — including the Heydar Aliyev Collection, Hafiz Pashayev Special Collection, and Thomas Goltz Special Collection, as well as Reference Collection — are for in-library use only.

Course reserve materials may have short-term loan periods (e.g., 2 hours or overnight/weekend) and cannot be renewed.

Overdue items may result in fines:

• 50 AZN per item after the first 10-day grace period

• An additional 50 AZN after a further 20-day delay

• Lost or damaged materials must be reported immediately and may incur replacement and processing fees. For details, see the Penalties Policy.

In order to benefit from library print and electronic resources it's necessary to request the activation of your library account. For this fill out and submit the online Account Activation Form

The printing facility in the Library and across the ADA campus can be used with your ADA ID card/account, in case your Printer Account has a sufficient balance. You can send documents for printing from Library desktop computers or use your memory card on the printer device. For more information, please visit: Printing Guide

There are 5 rooms (1 seminar, 4 group-study rooms) in ADA Library (Building L) that can be reserved online through users’ MyADA accounts. For general rules, please visit the Room Reservation Guidelines page.

 

ADA Alumni and external visitor categories, such as partners of ADA University, employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ADA University Executive Education trainees, visiting professors, research scholars, Master/PhD students, researchers and professors/instructors of other universities can get ADA Library membership for a certain period (3 months) with a possibility of renewals. For provided services and privileges, please see the “External Visitors’ Policy”.

Access to the Library's academic databases and full-text journal articles is available both on and off-campus:

  • On-Campus Access: When connected to the ADA University network (on a personal or university-owned computer) you can access these resources from anywhere on campus from ADA Library web site.
  • Off-Campus Access: For remote access, you will need to log in to the MyADA portal and then select ADA Library resources and services. Note: If you access the ADA Library website first to use databases, you will be redirected to the MyADA portal for authentication as an ADA University community member.
  • Important: You need to activate your Library account to access these resources. Detailed instructions for activating your account and using your MyADA credentials for off-campus access are available on the Library website.

You can fill out the Inter Library Loan request form and submit the details of article. Librarian will try to find the article from partner libraries; send you the article or inform you with the status of availability.

Access to the ADA Library's eBooks is provided through ProQuest eBook Central. To gain access, you will need specific account credentials:

  • Access Credentials: eBook access requires a ProQuest eBook Central account. You will use these account credentials to log in and read eBooks.
  • Account Request: To get your ProQuest eBook Central account, you need to request an account from the Library. Once your request is processed and your account is set up, you will able to use your requested credentials and access to e-books.

For online reading, you are only required to have Adobe Reader. You need to install Adobe Digital Editions for offline reading or downloading e-books.

Yes. You are generally allowed to download and print articles, book chapters, or other portions of content for your personal, educational, or research use, in accordance with copyright regulations.

Primarily current ADA University Community (students, faculty, and staff) are considered eligible authorized users for off-campus access to electronic resources.

You can search all ADA Library electronic resources with a single click using ADA Library “Discovery” information search system. It provides reliable, relevant results from ADA University’s subscribed online and print collections in one search. Discovery covers a wide range of materials, including books, scholarly journals, newspaper articles, e-books, theses and dissertations, conference proceedings, and many other types of resources.

Yes. The ADA Library welcomes donations of all formats, provided they are in good condition. Fill out and submit online Information Resources Donation Request Form.

We welcome donations that support the academic, research, and cultural mission of the ADA Community.

Eligible materials include:

Academic and scholarly publications – such as monographs, theses, research papers, textbooks, and teaching materials.

Fiction and literary works – including novels, short stories, poetry, and plays.

Reference books – dictionaries, encyclopedias, handbooks, etc.

Rare or archival materials of historical value – subject to review and evaluation by ADA Library staff.

Donated items that meet the ADA Library’s selection criteria will be technically processed, cataloged and added to the collection. Items that do not meet these criteria may be used for exchange or other purposes. Please note that we are unable to return donated items.

Yes. Upon request, the ADA Library can provide an official donation acknowledgment or confirmation document.

You can submit your academic/research work, thesis, capstone/business consultancy project, book, scholarly article, conference paper or other intellectual property material to the ADA Library Digital Repository by submitting its final approved version in digital format through the Intellectual Property Submission and Agreement Form. The Library staff will review your submission for completeness and metadata accuracy before adding it to the repository.

The ADA Library Digital Repository provides three main access options:

  • Open Access: The full text of the research work is publicly available for viewing and downloading. For more details, please proceed: ADA University Library Digital Repository and Open Access Policy;
  • Hybrid Access: Only 20% of the research work is available;
  • Restricted Access - Embargo: Depending on the selected options Embargo term can be (1) Temporary (6 months, 1-3 years); (2) Available only for ADA University community; or, (3) Permanent  – no access without the authors’ permission (Absolute Embargo).

In all cases the metadata (title, author, abstract, etc.) of the research work is visible to the public, while the full text is accessible only upon the authors’ approval.

By submitting the online form, the Author confirms that provided intellectual property material in the digital format is the final version of the creative work officially approved by the relevant School/Department/Authority, and once it is published in the ADA Library Digital Repository, editing or replacing the file is not allowed to maintain the integrity of the academic record.

It is possible to request the change of the access option by contacting the Library with an official email.

After submission, the review and processing of your thesis usually take 5-10 working days. This includes checking the file format, metadata accuracy, and compliance with submission guidelines. You will receive a confirmation email once your work is officially published in the ADA Library Digital Repository.
